The Local Business Development and SMEs module is designed to enable the systematic management of the business processes related to local supply and contracting; including receipt of expressions of interest, pre-qualification, capacity building, linking candidates to opportunities and preparation of contract documentation.
The module also facilitates allows for the analysis and reporting of performance against commitments, objectives and KPI; It also allows to keep centralised record.

What is local business development?
Local business development includes a range of activities dedicated to involve and stimulate growth of local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and bring development benefits to surrounding communities. It can includes, financing for small business start-up, providing mentoring and capacity building as well as accessing supply chain opportunities and participation in the project.
Why is it important to address those issues?
Building capacity and giving priority to local suppliers and businesses is a way to create opportunities and add value to the economic livelihoods of the communities where the project is held. Good practice requires that a formal process or system be developed to ensure that employment and business support is maximized at the Company operation. This would normally be done by having procedures in place for things such as local procurement, contractor management, recruitment processes, etc.
