On the last 9th of April, the name of the finalists of the 23rd OCTAS Competition, organised by the Network ACTION IT, have been announced in the presence of more than 450 representatives of the information technologies (IT) underworld, at the Montreal Club OPERA.
Boreal – Information Strategies is among the three finalists of the Business Intelligence category thanks to its project “Business Intelligence at human scale” (using interactive maps, reports and dashboard, “BI at human scale” greatly improves access to strategic information for a large company thanks to business intelligence tools and Web technologies). The two other candidates for the Business Intelligence category are theHealth and Security at Work Commission (Picture of the lesion risks) and the Alcohol Society of Quebec(checking off card of the SAQ partners).
Since 1987, OCTAS established itself as the most important competition in the information technologies (IT) sector in Quebec. It gives the opportunity for stakeholders to show their creativity and energy in this important industry currently generating 20 billions dollars, as well as excellence of their realizations. The 2009 Edition of the competition, was put under the theme “IT at the heart of innovation“, got a record number of applications: 146 applications submitted in about 20 categories.
Next May 23rd, at the Montreal Convention Centre, one of the finalists will be revealed as the winner of the OCTAS Competition for each category. This evening gala is the event of the year in Quebec for the sector of information technologies. As in the past years, nearly a thousand people will be expected to attend, and this edition will be put under the chairmanship of Mr Louis Dagenais, vice-president of Information Global Technologies & Project Management Systems for SNC-Lavalin. At the occasion the OCTAS of Excellence will be awarded for the best realization among all the applications. The IT Personality of the year 2008 will in Quebec will be presented as well at this occasion.
