We’ve been hearing about the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for several months now, and we know our clients might have several questions about how to prepare for it. We’re thus sharing what we know about how it might impact Boréalis and our users.

Boréalis’ GDPR Commitment
On May 25, 2018 the new GDPR privacy law goes into effect across the European Union (EU): it will regulate how any organization treats or uses the personal data* of EU citizens. The law doesn’t only apply to European businesses, it also regulates organizations located outside of the area that are doing business in the EU. Since Boréalis does business in numerous European countries, we are committed to becoming GDPR compliant by the May 2018 deadline.
*Personal data refers to any piece of information that, whether used alone or with other data, could identify an individual.
This means that if you collect, edit, communicate, delete, or use or store in other ways the personal information of EU citizens, you’ll need to comply with the GDPR.
The GDPR isn’t a whole new regulation, it will replace the existing Directive 95/46/EC on data privacy. It will introduce several important changes that may affect Boréalis users.
How is Boréalis preparing for GDPR?
In order to fulfill our commitment to comply with the GDPR regulation by May 2018, we’ve been reviewing many internal practices and policies, and are undertaking the required studies, working with security experts, gathering relevant information, and making the required investments.
The improvements we’re making aim to protect the privacy of EU residents, and will improve how we handle data across our organization, address our responsibility as a service provider under the law, and confirm our commitment staff, clients and other stakeholders.

GDPR’s goal is to protect internet users from abusive and intrusive practices. It is for the information targeted to, as well as the information solicited and collected from individuals.
The regulation ensures that individuals have the right to take part in online activities, purchases, and more, knowing that their personal information collected during the process is limited to only what is required to complete a transaction, or establish a relationship.
